George Hotz, aka Geohot, aka the kid that unlocked the iPhone way back when, aka the kid that traded an unlocked iPhone for three regular iPhones and a Nissan 350Z is at it again.

This time instead of merely unlocking the iPhone, he’s unlocked the iPhone for the second time. For round two of iPhone Unlock Fest 07-08, Hotz found a very high vulnerable memory register and manhandled it with aplomb.

“I guess Apple thought big numbers were harder to guess,” said Hotz. Daaaaamn!

The hack is “not for the faint of heart” according to the Register but instructions are available here and here if you’ve got the grapes. Careful now.

It’s not quite vaporware, it’s not quite ready to ship, and it’s not quite first to market anymore. But don’t we all love the Readius, Polymer Vision’s foldable e-book? I saw the old girl again awaiting shipment “later this year.” She was even next to a bunch of shipping boxes, as if the Polymer Vision elves were eagerly awaiting the first batch of devices fresh from the oven.
