Somewhere underneath the giant PHONE ARENA watermark is the latest LG phone destined for your local Verizon Wireless store, the LG VX9700. It’s supposed to be VZW’s Prada-less Prada, complete with fancy touchscreen and bubbly UI. It’s supposed to be available by the end of the month, but last-minute delays may push it back into April or May.
Y’all can look forward (?) to a 3.2-megapixel camera (for taking pictures!), microSDHC, T9, etc. etc. It’s all about the touchscreen, obviously.
Honestly, I liked the look of the Prada more than the iPhone, but now I’m set on either an Android-based phone or iPhone v2. I’m really liking the idea of an OSS cellphone.

I’m in the minority that thinks UMPCs — or at least ultra-portables in general — are the wave of the future. The Internet needs to be mobile, and current laptops are just still too big. The problem is, they tend to be pricey. Here, though, is a good deal, at only $850 after rebates, this touch-screen, full-QWERTY LifeBook is a great start for your ultra-portable future.

Phaser Blasted Alarm Clock! - video powered by Metacafe Another great project from Make. You basically use a phaser to shoot your alarm clock to make it snooze. The Perfect Pullup (shown here with optional ab straps) promises to “get you ripped FAST!” It comes from the same guy(s) who created the Perfect Pushup, the twisty accessory that adds more movement to a regular pushup. The Pullup, which I recently saw advertised on late night TV (blogging is glamorous, to quote every other Gawker post), accomplishes a similar feat by adding wrist-twisting to pullups. The result is a two-in-one exercise—pullup and chin up—that supposedly gets the job done much faster. The job being, of course, to look like a Greek statue.
It costs $99, which seems a little steep, but that’s probably because I payed about $20 for my POS pullup bar on eBay. Maybe you can find less expensive knock-offs in Wal-Mart?
