A reader was sent a rather revealing “consumer survey” this week, and though the carrier (or manufacturer) responsible for commissioning it wasn’t revealed, we’re thinking AT&T might have been behind this one. Why’s that? Well, several phones — most real, one rendered — were shown during the course of the survey, and one of the devices was an AT&T-branded Pantech QWERTY slider that we’ve straight up never seen before, so unless there’s some funny business going on, no other carrier should have access to that intel. In fact, the whole survey was focused on text messaging and text-centric, QWERTY handsets, asking questions about what sorts of form factors and features customers would like to see to improve their messaging experience. Also pictured were a Sidekick Slide (presumably for comparison’s sake), a Samsung QWERTY slider sporting looks similar to the i620 and i640 (minus Windows Mobile, seemingly), and a rendered, unbranded device touting a gargantuan display and a number of available colors. The reader was asked what name they thought best suited this particular phone, and the choices were “Blaze,” “Quickfire,” and “Reveal.” Needless to state, we’re not so sure how we feel about putting an “AT&T Blaze” in our pockets — but if it happens, at least we know who to blame.

Would you look at that: a thick slab of iPhone meat in a Sony Ericsson and HTC sandwich. The iPhone’s large screen is nice and all but the device is starting to look a bit portly given that the Xperia X1 sports a QWERTY with chewy HSDPA data, the latter shared with the Raphael Touch Diamond. Tasty, regardless.

Update: Er, that’s not the HTC Raphael, it’s their Touch Diamond.

[Thanks, Al]

If it’s on the Internet, it must be true. Of course, this is entirely speculation — pure internet “it is rumored” nonsense, but damn it man, we can hope can’t we? And they really ought to cast this young lady right here as the armored heroine.

Don’t be ashamed, you’re out to get each last morsel of Kickstart goodness before RIM’s first flip phone ever hits the market. On the docket this day is a half dozen slides detailing the Flip Experience, essentially spilling the painfully mundane minutiae of how the handset will function while speaking, receiving a text message, showing alerts and playing music. Nothing too mesmerizing or unexpected, but the Matt Damon hateration is completely out of left field.

The Samsung Steel is a tricky phone. To casual observers, it’s a Soul, Samsung’s latest and greatest Ultra Edition device. In reality, though, it’s a lower-end phone wearing the Soul’s clothing. It doesn’t move too far downmarket; the trick OLED d-pad is gone, but buyers still get HSDPA, a microSD slot, integrated DAB radio, and steel surfaces (hence the name, we figure) pretty much everywhere you look. This one should hit Vodafone next month for an as-yet-to-be-determined price.

Take this one with a huge grain of salt, but some enterprising members of the MacRumors forums went poking around the iPhone SDK files and unearthed what might be an icon representation of the 3G iPhone. (We looked ourselves and it’s definitely there.) There’s only one tiny image (scaled up on the left), but it’s clearly different from the other iPhone icons in the bundle, and it matches up nicely with some of the other leaked images we’ve been seeing. Of course, this is more likely a bad render or even just temporary art for the SDK, but things certainly seem like they’re starting to domino here — June 9 can’t get here fast enough, can it, Steve?

[Thanks, Michael]
