Paris who? Sony Ericsson’s let yet another one slip out of its fingers before the official announcement, this time around a killer slider stated to be the Cyber-shot C905, codenamed “Shiho.” If the rumors pan out, it’s got one heck of a rap sheet, too, starting off with an 8.1 — yes, eight point flippin’ one — megapixel camera with both xenon and LED flashes (for still and video capture, respectively), GPS, TV out, DLNA certification, and HSDPA in your choice of European and American flavors. The screen’s apparently just QVGA, but in light of everything else we’re hearing, we might just be willing to let that slide. It’ll apparently be announced on the 17th of the month in gold, silver, and black for a fourth quarter release. Wowza!

[Thanks, Adrian]

As QWERTY slider WinMo sets go, HTC and Sony Ericsson have collectively thrown down a big-ass gauntlet that competitors are likely going to be struggling to match for some time. So it goes with the glofiish M810, an HSDPA powerhouse that would’ve stolen the show 12 or 18 months ago — but now it’s got the Touch Pro and X1 to contend with, leaving the QVGA display and tired styling a bit tough to swallow. We suppose that a deep discount could still lure a throng, especially if Acer / E-TEN comes through with a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade — but until we all make that fateful decision, check out Pocket Computer Thoughts’ quick unboxing, live vicariously, and see if it feels right.

Tokyo-based SMK Corp. presents a new kind of wireless input pen that is able to display characters written in the air on monitors.

A built-in triaxial sensor detects the positional information and is able to recognize characters inputted with the pen. Via Bluetooth, the pen transmits the data to a screen that can be up to 10 meters away from the user.

SMk claims their invention is a world’s first and currently files for a patent. The company hopes their pen can one day replace laser pointers, i. e. during sales presentations.

Steve might have finally made with the iPhone 3G yesterday, but as we’ve mentioned before, would-be upgraders have a slightly more massive dilemma than just shaking down the couch cushions for an extra $199: getting their user data securely erased from their old iPhones. Simply hitting “restore” still leaves your data in an accessible say, and while we’ve covered ways to do a three-pass wipe with iTunes playlists, Jonathan Zdziarski has posted up a set of instructions for getting at your flash from the command line and wiping it directly. Sure, you’ll have to jailbreak your phone and it’ll take at least an hour or so — but hey, you’ve got a month to kill anyway, right?

We first heard about HP’s iPAQ 900 / 914 3G Business Messenger in September of last year, and after a series of delays (which seem to be endemic to the iPAQ line), it looks like the device is finally set to begin shipping. Nothing much has changed, except that a Windows Mobile 6.1 device with a 2.46-inch display, WiFi, GPS, HSDPA, and a 3 megapixel camera isn’t exactly the hot sheets it was almost a year ago. That said, that chubby case hides a 1800mAh battery, which should let enterprise users get their business on for the superior part of a full day. Should be shipping around the world starting June 30, even though specific worldwide dates will vary.
