Sony Ericsson is having a bit of trouble keeping its newest lineup on the down low, but we suppose that’s the price of fame. Most notable of the new crew is the F305 (pictured), which isn’t exactly feature-packed, boasting of mere EDGE speeds, a Memory Stick Micro slot, a 2-inch 176 x 220 display and some music playback features. What sets it apart is a built-in accelerometer for motion controlled games. The game-oriented face buttons are also a perk, but we hope this thing has enough processing power to handle something actually pleasing. The S302 Snapshot is camera-oriented, but only just barely, with a 2 megapixel fixed focus camera, a flash, and PhotoFix software. You can also shoot video, with 20MB of built-in storage, and Memory Stick Micro expansion. Both phones come with A2DP and will be announced on the 17th, according to whoever leaked all this info. The F305 should hit Q3, with the S302 to follow in Q4. Sony Ericsson will also be busting out three stylish but cheap-seeming Bluetooth headsets to accompany these two.

Would you go to a notoriously bad neighborhood to buy an iPhone you found advertised on Craigslist? As many as 12 people here in New York did, and got robbed for their troubles.

A ring of four thugs lured New Yorkers to Flatbush, Brooklyn with the promise of heavily discounted iPhones, all advertised on Craigslist from March to June 4. One deal advertised 10 iPhones available for just $2,000. When the prospective buyers showed up, they were robbed at gunpoint. That’s a fine how-do-you-do.

Police shut the ring down last week.

And, uh, those of you looking for an iPhone deal: remember, it drops in price starting on July 11.

Be alert, folks.

AOL Radio, yet another reason to take into account getting an iPhone next month. AOL developed an application—it won an Apple design award—for the iPhone that lets users tune into AOL Radio either using 3G, EDGE or Wi-Fi. The app, when used in an iPhone 3G, computes where you’re using GPS and automatically tunes into the closest CBS station. So yes, nearly as easy as a regular radio, but one with some smarts behind it.

(And before anyone goes off, “I’ve been listening to radio on my [whatever device] for the past xyz years,” great, good for you, but now you can do it on an iPhone, a device that actually has mainstream appeal.)

The app will be ad-supported, so it’ll cost you nothing. So, a neat extra.

If you never used AOL Radio online before, give it a try right now. I’ve got KROQ on right now. Typical paint-by-numbers rock, yes, but it’s neat nonetheless.

Samsung’s handsets have been all about razor thin, good cameras and long spec sheets of late, and the SCH-W480 fills most of those categories, but falls a bit short — and fat — of attaining thin-dom in this case. Featuring a 3X optical zoom, 5 megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, WCDMA / GSM roaming for worldwide enjoyment, Bluetooth, and a microSD slot for memory expansion. Admittedly, it packs a 3X optical zoom into its beefy housing that rather than extending outside the case does all it’s zooming inside — though we’d still prefer to roll with thin and svelte, not high tech and hidden. No word on pricing on the W480 — that we promised we wouldn’t compare to the N95 — but hopefully we’ll hear more soon. Granted, this isn’t likely coming to a carrier near you in the US as it’s all Anycall branding advocates, but feel free to import and let us know what ya think.
