So, who still likes Mortal Kombat? Bless your heart, then, for a new three-game collection has shipped to stores nationwide. It’s called Mortal Kombat: Kollection, and it includes 2004’s Mortal Kombat: Deception, 2005’s Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and 2006’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It’s for the PS2, as you can plainly see right there.

In truth, none of these games really impressed me when I first played them, but the price, $30, isn’t entirely unreasonable.

You know what’s even cheaper, though? Downloading MAME and playing the arcade version of Mortal Kombat II, by far the ideal in the series.

Forget everything you know about perspective, Samsung’s Haptic 2 is clearly one huge-ass handset. Astounding that the jumbo-handed product waif on the left can even hoist the beast without so much as a grimace. Otherwise, Samsung’s newest fullscreen device looks every bit the hot Korean cousin to the i900 Omnia. The Haptic 2 followup to the original Haptic features DMB TV, 4GB (SCH-W550 or SPH-W5500, about $600) or 16GB (SCH-W555, about $690) of storage, integrated mobile banking, and improved (more sensitive) 3.2-inch touchscreen and an updated TouchWiz UI now sporting 50 widget applications (up from 15) and user defined vibration tones — whoa, better beef up security for the Korean launch Sammy.

October 2nd: mark it down ’cause Reuters states that’s the date that Nokia will launch its Nokia Tube — aka, 5800 XpressMusic. According to a pair of industry sources, Nokia will launch the much anticipated, long overdue, S60 touchscreen device at a media and analyst event in London — exactly as Pocket-lint’s source told us earlier. All that’s left now is for the invites to be distributed.

If you can’t get your goods into China via the front door, there’s always the back. Apple is now selling its iPhone 3G unlocked via its on-line Apple Store in Hong Kong. The 8GB model sells for HK$5,500 (about US$694) or HK$6,200 (about $797) for the 16 gigger. Already available since July 11th with a local Hutchison Telecommunications contract, this is the first time that Apple has sold its device unlocked in Hong Kong:

“iPhone 3G purchased at the Apple On the web Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G and connect to iTunes 8 to complete activation.”

Unfortunately for the 1 billion mainland Chinese, the terms and conditions limit sales to those in Hong Kong only — not that the gray market cares about T&Cs. It’ll be interesting to see if Apple extends the unlocking more broadly (presumably as exclusivity deals expire) or if this is strictly a local phenomena, perhaps in direct response to having its WiFi and the imperialistic 3G gutted from handsets sold under Apple’s rumored China Mobile deal.

Currently, over 400,000 unlocked iPhones are roaming around China. Now that China Mobile is about to officially launch Apple’s latest handset in the world’s most populous country, we can only envision that figure going up. In a bizarre twist of trying to keep a homegrown 3G standard (TD-SCDMA) alive, the carrier has announced that it is intending to launch the mobile with WiFi and 3G disabled — a move that would make it less appealing to those who might be considering buying one, unlocking it and using it on the expected W-CDMA network from China Telecom. Uncool, China Mobile. Very uncool.

We’ve seen most everything about the BlackBerry Storm that Verizon wanted us to see, but this is the first real (clear) glimpse at what the UI is prone to look, taste and smell like whenever it decides to ship. Of course, we’d still caution you to take all of this with a grain of salt until Vodafone comes clean, but the screen shots captured in the read link do look fairly believable. Can you stand any more teasin’? If so, you know where to head.
