There’s not a whole lot of excitement packed between the hinges of Samsung’s M3110, but the vivacious exterior is certainly worth a look for those who appreciate varying hues. The self-proclaimed music phone does itself a large favor by offering up a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, and there’s also an internal display (160 x 128) there to complement the external 96 x 96 pixel screen. Finally, you’ll find a 1.3-megapixel camera and a very traditional numeric keypad, but your guess is as good as ours on pricing / availability.

Oh sure, a few remarkably lucky and / or well connected individuals out there are yapping it up on a white T-Mobile G1 right this very moment, but for the bulk of us, coming across one is basically impossible; in fact, the white G1 isn’t even listed on T-Mobile’s website currently. TMO News has it that the lightest hue of the HTC-built handset isn’t expected to ship until at least the US Thanksgiving holiday, meaning that you’ve still got some serious time to kill before wrapping your paws around the increasingly enviable mobile. Rumors have been rampant that a paint chipping issue is at fault, and while we’ve yet to hear any confirmation of that, we have seen problems with white paint throw a wrench in the production plans of other mega-corps in the past. There’s always the black G1 + Colorware if you’re really impatient, you know.

While Americans have been enjoying the spoils of the RC29 and RC30 updates for a matter of hours now, folks in the UK have finally been treated to an update of their own. The RC8 update, which was recently delivered to Brits over the air, looks to be a single update that mashes together the fixes found in both the RC29 and RC30 updates available in the US. Initial reports suggest that the phone now runs a touch cooler, though it’s being debated whether or not battery life has improved or worsened. Have any of you across the pond been able to test it out and see what’s new?

If you’ve got totally no complaints with your E66 or E71, you could just leave superior off alone and forget that you ever read this. If you’ve got beef, however, we’d advocate hitting the read link pronto. Nokia has just unloaded a new firmware update for both of the aforementioned mobiles which includes new versions of Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps. Additionally, the updates provide “a number of performance improvements including camera viewfinder orientation, Mail for Exchange synchronization and browsing.” Thankfully, it seems as if the suits in Espoo took Oscar Rogers’ advice to “JUST FIX IT,” and, well, fixed it.

As one astute tipster’s pointed out, the XPERIA X1a is now available for pre-order on the Best Purchase site. Now that the phone’s really, finally, nearly here are you totally psyched? Or have you been too busy playing with your G1 to notice? Like we saw last week, the phone will retail for $799.99 in its unlocked form, and there’s no word yet on pricing with a plan. Order now and they claim you’ll receive the phone as soon as November 28th. So… what are you waiting for?

[Thanks, Ian]

Huawei’s a member of both Google’s Open Handset Alliance and the Symbian Foundation, so it stands to reason that the Chinese manufacturer might have more than a passing interest in pumping out handsets powered by the platforms. Sure enough, the marketing directory of Huawei’s handset division now states that it’ll bust into the Android and Symbian markets next year, offering carrier-branded devices to go along with its Windows Mobile-powered fare. Despite its failure to attract outside investment, the company says that it’ll be able to get its new smartphones out the door by lengthening the shelf life of its lower-end devices — the devices it’s classically known for — which will lead to higher profit margins and, presumably, enough organic revenue to fund its own R&D.

Remember just a few days back when the HTC MAX 4G AKA the world’s very first GSM / WiMAX handset was announced? Well, some pretty sweet footage of the device — which boasts 8GB of flash memory, GPS, WiFi, triband EDGE and WIMAX support — has surfaced, and we’ve to state it doesn’t look too shabby. The video’s in Russian — because you can only get the phone on Scartel’s Yota network in… you guessed it, Russia, but from the sounds of it, the demonstrator is stoked. Check it out after the break.
