Back in the 90s everybody saw the birth of PDA products.  The all in one nature of having almost everything one can imagine organized on an electric device was attractive to many.  These were more important due to the path they set because they did not gain huge popularity at first.  Today we have products that rival computers in performance speed and operation, but there were some important advances along the route that got them to where they are today.

The iPod was unveiled soon after the first PDAs.  The popularity of MP3s set the stage for the iPod, and the product introduced the capacity and ease of use that everyone wanted.  The creation of the wheel and the high storage capacity created a market that many other companies competed with but never had success in.  Movies are one of the many things that iPod users enjoy, and the device has many other abilities that have been introduced over time.

The cases have played a crucial role in the popularization of smartphone devices since they prevent the devices from getting damaged.  Many cases today are manufactured out of a wide variety of materials and in many styles, either offering minimal protection while keeping a device slim or bulking it up to protect it from the worst drops.  Many innovative case designs were introduced with iPod Nano 3rd generation cases and iPhone 3gs cases and covers.  Almost every device has a variety of cases to select from, and there are many companies dedicated to creating every variety that a person could want.

Smartphones for several years were dominated by the Windows Mobile software platform, but over time it lacked the innovation that was needed to gain new customers.  HTC tried quite hard after the release of the iPhone to gain back the customers that converted from Windows Mobile.  Windows Mobile fell by the wayside for some time, and now with the newly designed operating system, it is finally catching up to its rivals.

Nowadays, the marketplace is ruled by both the iPhone and Android smartphones.  Both of these operating systems have simple to use elements that are powerful enough for the most demanding user.  The vast majority of phones activated today are smartphones, and they will eventually become the only type of phone available.  These devices are essentially tablet PCs, and they can do anything that a normal PC can do.
